Four in a Row!
The Alberta Aviation Museum has just returned from the 2012 Canadian Aeronautical Preservation Association conference, held this year at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton Ontario. At this three day conference representing Aviation Museums from across Canada the Alberta Aviation Museum was chosen by it’s peers to receive the C.A.P.A National Award for an Outstanding Outreach Program.
The Alberta Aviation Museum received the award for this years Schools Aerospace Challenge Program which sent a Team of Edmonton area Royal Canadian Air Cadets to the Schools Aerospace Challenge Program in Cranfield England, the first Canadian Team ever to attend.
The 2012 National Award from C.A.P.A represents the fourth year in a row that the Canadian Aeronautical Preservation Association has recognized the Alberta Aviation Museum as one of Canada’s top Aviation Museums.
2012 for the Schools Aerospace Challenge as the Outstanding Outreach Program
2011 for the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan Alberta Tour in 2010
2010 for the Spirit of Edmonton Bi Plane Centennial Flights program of 2009
2009 the Alberta Aviation Museum was recognized by it’s peers in the Canadian Aeronautical Preservation Association as one of Canada’s Nationally significant Aviation Museums.
The Alberta Aviation Museum Association will continue to pursue programming, exhibits and events of this calibre and is proud to bring home to Edmonton and Alberta the recognition that these leading efforts bring.

Re: Four in a Row for the Alberta Aviation Museum
Congratulations indeed.
I went to NAIT in 04 & enjoyed the classes that were taught in the muesum. Too bad that program folded.
Tom will you guys sell me your Fleet Canuck?
Also, is the miniature Fokker D.VIII still sitting proud at the end of the museum? I haven't been to the museum for quite awhile. Curious about it and it's builder Everret.

Thanks Beefitarian and X-Wind for the kind words...

Sorry we don't sell aircraft from the collection...we only bring them in if they fit mandate and we don't dispose of aircraft we need for Edmonton's story. The Canuck BTW has one heck of an Edmonton story with Graham Heard who owned it and on a greater scale the Edmonton Flying Club.
I am hoping you will see the Canuck back in the air someday.
The Fokker is still proudly on display and coming this spring we are doing a major floor shuffle and you will see the D.8 become the centre piece of our First World War Display along with parts of the existing display, the large scale models with the exhibit expanded and (3) 1/2 scale replicas.
Ev Bunell does still drop by from time to time and our new curator is redoing signage to properly reflect Ev's contribution.
As far as the NAIT program.
We have, thanks to President Glen Feltham and others at NAIT, acquired the assets of the NAIT Avionics program and other materials. We hope to relaunch these programs for Northern Alberta students at some point in the future when we have the room to do it.

Aerobat
You've got Gary's Midget Mustang?
Nice to see it went to a good home.
That is an example of an aircraft that was stored on site, it was here when Gary had an accident (not his fault) and as it was here we stored it for him while it was dealt with.
Aircraft owned by the museum are a different matter.
