Question: Who all views and downloads...

Post by AMETonyD »

Our resumes, when we post under the hire me section.
I've posted, and I have over 100 people who have viewed the post, and my resume was downloaded nearly 44 times in the two times I've launched the topic..

I'm curious as well. I guess you also received the magical 0 responses/replies ?

Must be all the marketing companies collecting addresses and stuff. Or the NSA placing tags on the Warriors of the North. After all, winter is coming.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Crawler bots. Maybe we should add a CAPTCHA to downloads.

I like to download resumes for fun. I look at the page layout, how they have their hours listed, types flown, any school/past work/achievements and how they are listed. I sometimes get good ideas for my resume.

On the other hand, it's mostly entertaining to see what not to do. Sometimes you see resumes with no objective, no licence listed, or no hours listed (I often wondered about those...). Sometimes you're not even sure if they are applying for a job, never mind a pilot job. Too often it's a 6 page behemoth detailing every burger-flippin job they had and every single type and model of aircraft they ever flew or wanted to fly. Sometimes you see a long list of every award they won since the age of the diaper. Occasionally you see enough information to conduct a background search: Address, phone number, licence number , place and date of birth :!: , marital status, nationality, photograph :!: , ect. It makes for an entertaining evening to pick out the worst resume haha

For the reasons mentioned, that is why I have two versions of resumes: 1) full resume, includes all my personal info (which i never place online, unless im e-mailing directly to a listed contact) & 2) a confidential version, only listing my linkedin, email and phone number.

And yes, who can we contact about that, adding a CAPTCHA to our downloads ?

Can an Admin please voice in ?

Exactly. I will also usually download resumes just to see what people are up to. Resume ideas and what kind of unemployed talent is out there. Usually it ends up being a laugh....awarded best ketchup squeezer McDonlands 5 years running.

I don't think you have to worry about CAPTCHA, if anything that would deter anyone from downloading resumes. The downloads are likely people who just want a look, not to hire. Still proves the point that you should not include references on a resume since anyone can access that information.

I'm willing to bet a large portion are from other job seekers getting a fix on their competition. I did indeed receive calls from potential employers when my resume was on the hire me section 5-6 years ago though.
