Have you guys heard anything yet? I noticed TS had a 737 painted up in YUL last week. Is Canjet gearing up to go-it alone, or will TS continue to contract them for flying? She said the company’s management has promised to update its three unions of its plans in the first week February.

Gilles??
Isn't this part of Gilles' "Put Canadian Pilots to work program"
Sorry, that should have read "Put Transat Pilots to work program"
Sadly, doesn't look good for Canjet
I'm sure Gilles has lots of good ideas on how to fix that problem though.

Asheetmadraws,
I guess I don't see the pending doom here? If Canjet closes the doors and Transat is adding 37's to the fleet, wouldn't that mean job opportunities for all those 37 rated Canadian pilots at Canjet? Or maybe your suggesting I should feel for those foreign pilots that won't be taking jobs away from Canadian's?
Gilles is a credit to this industry.

I fail to see what does the fact that Transat (the Group) decided to take its 737 flying back in-house and have it done by its main contractor (Air Transat) have to do with the TFW program and Gilles' work?
Also, was it ever specified somewhere that the contract with Canjet was forever renewable?

Re: CanJet's Future??
CanJet really interested in the "scheduled" market again, kinda crowded down here in the Eastern side of the woods with AC/WJ/Jazz/Porter, especially the YYZ-YHZ-YYT or YYZ - YYT. There was a smaller company that tried a YQM-YYT originating from YUL I think but didn't last a month as quite pricey. As somebody said it is still cheaper to drive to YHZ if heading to any point in NL with all the availability from YHZ.
Never know in this business though

Ah, Oldfella, you can take Jazz off that list. The flying that Jazz does is "Air Canada".

Re: CanJet's Future??
It seems Transat renewed with Canjet for two years for one aircraft in the summer and two in the winter.
http://business.financialpost.com/2014/ ... ract-ends/
Air Transat is in the process of hiring 40+ pilots these days, because thanks to bringing the 737s in house. That number represents about one third of pilots Canjet has on payroll.
In addition to that, there are all sort of rumors flying around.
I heard one where there will be a European deployment for Canjet pilots and aircraft this summer.
I also heard that Sunwing will contract Canjet next winter instead of Contracting foreign pilots.
Interesting times. I am just observing since I do not know what truth there is to all of this.......

Re: CanJet's Future??
Yup understood there TG, my point that I should have said is I can go YHZ-YYT return either with AC Mainline or Jazz, if that doesn't work other options are WJ or Porter. Correct!TGale wrote:Ah, Oldfella, you can take Jazz off that list. The flying that Jazz does is "Air Canada".

As for the topic at hand, I know people who flew with CJ to southern vacations and thought the service very good and no issues. Regardless of what is happening in that sector of this aviation business, one hopes that CJ will still be a part of it.
Cheers

A little birdie told me 3 CJ planes are going to Europe this summer.
