Re: Pre-departure COVID-19 testing and negative results to be required for all air travelers coming to Canada
Has anyone travelled across the border since this rule came into effect? I will be travelling across the border as a Flight Crew Member and deadheading back and I'm curious how they have handled FCMs (as they are in theory exempt). Has anyone had any direct experience or can point to a printed exem...

Post-Simulator Quarantine?
My recurrent is coming up soon and needs to be on a sim only available in the US. Are pilots exempt from the 14 day quarantine on return from simulator training? Anyone have any info on this?

Re: SkyService Lear Damaged
I've flown the Lear 45 and 75. I recall a discussion in initial training about self test functions that take place during power up and engine start involving hydraulics or antiskid.... I can't really recall the details. I do recall however, that it was not a good idea to start engines during a push ...

Re: new 2 crew member rule
I see your point. I should have mentioned that the aircraft I flew had a mechanical dead bolt on the cockpit door, and not an electrical lock, so there was absolutely no way you could enter the cockpit when the door was locked. There was no magic code. The electronic door override would work in the ...

Re: new 2 crew member rule
I flew with a 705 operator that had security procedures requiring 2 crew members in the cockpit at all times 10 years ago! We had only one flight attendant, so there was no crew member in the cabin during a pilot "comfort" break. This was mandated by the company security regulations, the COM and SOP...

Hawkair
Does anyone have information on the Hawkair Dash 8 Captain positions? Specifically pay, days worked per month, benefits etc? Also, which bases are they hiring for? Any information would be appreciated. PM me if you wish. Thx

Re: Cover Letters (Again) -
I find "To Whom it may concern" sounds too much like a reference letter. "Dear Sirs:" is still considered to be the most appropriate bussiness salutation, but will likely offend. The same women might also be offended by "madam" in "Dear Sir/Madam:" I just avoid the whole sexist issue by only applyin...

Re: PPC Troubles!
There are many of us out there who have failed a PPC in the past and are still working, and many are being hired by the majors. Be up front and honest about the failure, and what you learned from it. If the company interviewing you won't hire you because of the failure, you probably don't want to be...

But these security measures are WORKING! Since they started the crackdown on beverages, not one pilot has been able to bring down his own aircraft with his cup of coffee. You just can't argue with that kind of success.

HST on Airfare
I was looking at some airfares after July 1st (the date the HST comes into effect in BC and Ontario) and found some interesting facts. After July 1st, 12% HST will be applied to the full price of an air ticket on any domestic flight departing from BC or Ontario airports. That's an increase from the ...

Re: What are lower mainlander's doing thru olympics???
I hope the operators affected are able to recoup their losses. I think a precedence was set last year when Susan Heyes, a Cambie street merchant, sued Translink et al, and won, for the "nuisance" created to her business caused by the cut and cover construction. http://www.francesbula.com/wp-content/...

Re: What are lower mainlander's doing thru olympics???
Hey - what all the other instructors / VFR types around ZBB/YNJ/YPK/YSE are doing for the olympics shutdown weeks? We're mostly being laid off at my school, so the instructors can get EI money for training - serving as severance for all this security bullshit. A few are going to get their IFR and m...

The RCAP Gen is available in PDF on the RCAP CD ROM. It's exactly the same as the CAP GEN. If you know someone with a RCAP CD subscription, copy one from them. No-one should have a problem with that right? since the CAP GEN is supposed to be free?

Re: ur thought
Don't dismiss the value of the FO job on the turbine. A lot of operators will look for 2 crew experience. If all you have is single pilot experience, you'll have a problem getting that dream jet job. After the piston PIC job, you'll still probably be looking for a 704 type turbine job to advance, an...
