Another slap in the face

Nice to see that the airport workers in Vancouver are still able to threaten a strike and negotiate a contract and yet we are legally banned from negotiating a decent contract. What about the impact their strike would have on the travelling public. Or is it the fact the we just don't have the b@lls ...

Re: Husband and Wife with children, flying for AC???

Seems like you already know what you want to do. The first while will not be easy for you as far as schedule. Anyone telling you else wise is lying. If your wife is already at AC, depending how long she might enjoy an easier schedule. But if you really want to try it out the other jobs are and alway...

Re: 777RP question

Yes, you can very easily bid load end or load beginning and get 3-4 weeks off in a row. You will need to be a blockholder with a little seniority and bid to fly Asia. It may not happen every month but when you only works 9 days a month, it isn't too hard. Thanks for the info. Would be a block holde...

777RP question

I am returning from SLOA this year and had a question with regards to 777RP scheduling I was hoping someone could shed some light on. I am a commuter and was considering bidding onto the 777RP out of YYZ and from what I have seen most guys do one trip a week for three weeks during the month. What I ...

Re: Anything Positive about a low cost?

I am absolutely not in favor of the 38k starting salaries at AC because I know how hard it is to live on it!! The only problem I do have is how there are so many senior pilots that are so appalled now that they are trying to protect the higher jobs from the low cost carrier when the response I have ...

Re: What does Air Canada want to see on a resume

People can read what ever they want into it and speculate all they want but start applying when you meet the requirements on the webpage. Someone in my class in 08 only had piston PIC but quite a bit of time. Do well in the interviews and they can teach you the rest.

Re: AC Starting Salary

I have never seen any concern from the top 1/3 or the company that would lead me to believe either is willing to sacrifice anything that would correct the discraceful first two years. The most common comment is that everyone has had to do it so why shouldn't you. Another example of why we will alway...

I do know ATR does sometimes offer incentives like training the crew for free initially if you go with the ATR.

Re: Status Pay?

flyinhigh, I don't think that comment about AC pilots running over their young was fair. I do believe they just voted down a contract which would have given them a decent raise at the expense of a pension for new hires. BTW, when are you coming over to the dark side;) Cheers, I am not so sure it wa...

SLOA and need a bit of info

I am currently on SLOA and looking at changing to a new company for the remainder. They want a name of supervisor and contact number for the company. Not really sure who that would be and which number to use. Any suggestions?? Was an F/O on the Embraer. Thanks for any info or suggestions.

Re: Hiring

I would imagine it will start where they left off with the hiring pool when ever they get going again. Hopefully not as long as one might think, but there are a lot of factors in play. I do not imagine that you would have to interview again but if it is years from now who knows, maybe they will want...

Re: The life of a "New Hire"

Granted complaining is not the best option, but to say people have a "choice" knowing what they are getting into is a little harsh and not really true. Most people come into AC with MANY years in the industry and are looking at their future as well. A lot of the new hires have worked towards AC for ...

Thanks but no, Caribbean Star actually closed down when it merged into Liat. Caribbean Airlines used to be BWIA but was closed down and reformed into Caribbean Airlines. BWIA was on the list but am not sure if the new company is.

Re: Too early for LOA??

This kind of situation really makes me angry. I know of pilots who are now being career failed because AC crew are starting to jump like rats from that big rusty old sinking ship we know as HMCS AC. You might like to call it LOA, but I'd call it spineless and selfish. You all chose to run to AC wit...

If you still want to use your points for most of the trip you could always go to barbados and then take Liat from Bim to Trinidad. They fly between the two several times a day.

training expenses

Just curious to know if new hires are on their own from day one or if the company gets them settled first. By that I mean at airlines I have worked at in the past and a lot of others, they usually put you up for the first little while at a hotel. In most cases usually at least until you finished the...
